Let’s talk about Trump, baby.

I am not a fan of the whole long introduction, and as it is now, there is something I would much rather talk about.

Let’s have a chat about the upcoming presidential election in the US.

When Trump first announced that he was running for president, I laughed. I laughed for months, and refused to believe in the obvious hoax, some sort of self-promotional marketing trick, that he was conducting. I haven’t laughed in a very long time now.

Since I live in a Nordic country, some can argue that what goes on in the US won’t have a huge impact on me, so I don’t have to worry about it. That is an extremely naive approach, and a lame excuse to look the other way. This man can end up leading the super-power of the world. He will, if we want to or not, set a standard for what behavior is acceptable, he will be a role model for millions of children, he will have an impact on the justice system, the media, and most importantly, a view of other people. Women and immigrants, to be specific. He will be able to push the social structure of, not only the US, but the world, back 50 years. Kids and teenagers will look at him, and believe that their actions against women does not matter, you can become president when treating women as objects, so who gives a damn anyway?

I am terrified that this man may win. A recent poll even put him one point ahead of Clinton, while still saying that it was to close to call, but it scared the living shit out of me. I am fortunate in my social circle, I don’t think I’ve come across a single Trump supporter at all. Not even one who can see the slightest bit of sense in all his amazingly ignorant ramblings, so I have been able to write it off as media tricks, or the like, when I’ve been confronted with numbers and graphs and what-not, showing the rising in his votes.

But the fact is, half of the US would want to see Donald Trump as president.

This is the man who has revealed, that the way to get women, is to

“Grab them by the pussy.”

The man who knows what is important in life.

“You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass.”

The man who is the first actual mind-reader.

“All of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me – consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected.”

There is plenty of other examples of his outrageous statements, and if you feel like having an ironic and soul-killing laugh, then you can read a lot of them right here.

Donald Trump is a joke. He is a cartoon character, a parody of the worst 50’s stereotype man, but the nightmare version. He is terrifying.

Let’s not forget that a woman is useless, if her husband cheats on her, because yes, it is totally her fault, and thus, when failed at as a sexual object, is completely devoid of significance.

The main problem for me is not as much the man himself, but the oodles of people who are voting for him. Men and women. I have no understanding at all, as to how you can look at this person and think that he would be a great leader. It is so surreal to me, and I have really tried to put myself in these peoples shoes, but I fail. It all ends up looking like excuses for misogyny and racism, and I refuse to make excuses for other people.

Donald Trump is a misogynist, there is no other way to put it. We all know this.

Donald Trump is close to becoming the next president of the United States.

This is why feminism is so important. This.
